MONEYLINE
Pick the winner of the stated game or period. The price determines the payout; winning by more does not increase it.
Example: Team A to win.Numbers tell you what happened. Watching helps you understand how it happened. Learn the terms, read the price, and put the stats back into the game.

START WITH WHAT MUST HAPPEN
These examples are fictional and explain settlement, not recommended bets. Check the operator’s rules for overtime, participation, pushes, and voids.
Pick the winner of the stated game or period. The price determines the payout; winning by more does not increase it.
Example: Team A to win.A handicap changes the score for settlement. At Team A −3.5, Team A must win by 4 or more. At Team B +3.5, Team B can win or lose by 3 or fewer.
Watch the game: a win is not always a cover.Pick whether the combined score finishes above or below a stated number. At 45.5, a combined 46 is over and 45 is under.
Watch pace and scoring opportunities.A market on a player’s stat. Over 24.5 points needs at least 25. Under 24.5 needs 24 or fewer, subject to participation rules.
Watch role, playing time, and opportunity.Combines selections. All remaining active legs generally must win; push and void treatment varies. Adding legs can increase payout while making the entire ticket harder to win.
Related picks are not independent.A push can occur when the result equals a whole-number line. A void removes an eligible selection under the book’s rules. Refund and parlay treatment depend on those rules.
Read the rules before confirming.THE PRICE IS PART OF THE BET
Your stake is the amount at risk. Profit excludes your returned stake. These examples show what happens if the selection wins; a loss normally loses the stake.
| Odds | Profit if won | Total return | Break-even rate* |
|---|---|---|---|
| +150 | $15.00 | $25.00 | 40.00% |
| −110 | $9.09 | $19.09 | 52.38% |
| −200 | $5.00 | $15.00 | 66.67% |
*The win rate needed to break even at that price, assuming no pushes or other adjustments. This is price-implied probability, not the true chance of winning. Sportsbook margin means both sides’ implied probabilities commonly add to more than 100%.
At positive odds, profit = stake × odds ÷ 100. At negative odds, profit = stake × 100 ÷ the absolute odds value. NFL betting-terms reference.
THE BOX SCORE IS A STARTING POINT
A recent average can hide a change in role. One highlight can distort your impression. Watch the action, then use a wider sample to test what you think you saw.
Who handles the ball? Are minutes stable? Are shots open or contested? Did foul trouble or a blowout change the rotation?
Who gets carries and targets? Is pressure changing the passing game? Does the score explain a shift from rushing to passing?
How is the pitcher locating? Are hitters making solid contact? Who is available in the bullpen? Separate a single result from the quality of the chance.
Which lines are playing together? Where are shots coming from? Are power plays or goalie changes affecting the game?
Broadcasts and data feeds can be delayed. Watching a stream does not mean you are ahead of an in-play market. Avoid impulsive bets based on one play.
PREGAME GAME IQ · BUILT FOR BETTING RESEARCH
Pregame Game IQ is designed to help you research the questions behind a spread, total, or game-winner market. Its comparisons put the two teams together so you can examine where opportunities, scoring pressure, and risks may come from.
Open Games, choose an upcoming matchup, and select Game IQ. Preview provides additional team and game context; Prop IQ is the separate player-prop view when available. Charts vary by sport and data coverage.
How effectively does each team turn possessions into points? Compare offense with the opposing defense to research scoring strength behind a spread or total.
Watch: are good possessions creating good chances? How quickly do the teams play, and whose style might shape the matchup? Pace helps explain scoring volume, but more possessions alone do not guarantee an over.
Watch: which team is controlling the tempo?Lost possessions and second chances can change scoring opportunities and margins. These comparisons help you look beyond points-per-game averages.
Watch: who is earning the extra possessions?Where does a team generate its offense, and how does that meet the opponent’s defense? Shot profile and paint comparisons help explain matchup fit.
Watch: are those shots available against this opponent?Compare the ways a defense can disrupt the opponent’s strengths. Use the relevant sport-specific views to examine the matchup instead of relying on record alone.
Watch: does the defensive approach match the numbers?Use available recent-form, rating, and line-movement views alongside Game IQ. They help frame the matchup and the price, but a recent streak is not a forecast.
Watch: has a role, lineup, or style changed? The examples above describe available basketball comparisons; other leagues use different views. Treat each chart as evidence to investigate, not an automatic betting signal. Check the sample, game date, player availability, and actual market rules.
The chart may show a pace or efficiency difference. Watching helps you see the rotations, pressure, shot quality, and game situation behind it. Test that observation against a broader sample rather than reacting to one highlight.
Game IQ supports research. It does not guarantee a cover, an over, or a winning pick.
BEFORE YOU CONFIRM ANYTHING
KEEP THE GAME BIGGER THAN THE BET
If you choose to bet, decide on a time limit and an entertainment budget you can afford to lose before you start. Never use bill money or borrowed money. Do not increase your stake to chase losses.
Use available deposit limits, breaks, and self-exclusion tools if needed. Watching sports does not need a wager. Responsible Play resources and Plan Before You Play offer more guidance.
RESEARCH THE NUMBERS. WATCH THE GAMES.
Bet IQ helps you explore data. A saved parlay is a research record, not a placed wager.
Identify the market, line, odds, stake, potential profit, and rules. Distinguish a moneyline from a spread or total, and remember that the total return normally includes the original cash stake.
For positive odds +A, use 100 divided by A plus 100. For negative odds -A, use A divided by A plus 100. Multiply by 100 for a percentage. These prices include the bookmaker’s margin.
A push occurs when the result lands exactly on a whole-number line, subject to the market rules. An ordinary straight cash wager is generally refunded on a push. A loss does not return the stake.
No. Outcomes remain uncertain even with careful research. Set limits, avoid chasing losses, and do not use money needed for essential expenses.
